Job overview

Nord Anglia Education has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an outstanding, internationally-experienced leader in education, to drive the ongoing success of the highly regarded Nord Anglia International School, Al Khor in Qatar.

The School

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Principal to lead the Nord Anglia International School, Al Khor (‘NAISAK’) in the thriving city of Al Khor in Northern Qatar. Our highly respected school, often called the gem in the desert, teaches an innovative British and international curriculum for children aged 3-16. The school has over 40 nationalities currently enrolled, including students from the UK, Qatar, South Africa, India and even Iceland.  Alongside the international curriculum, learning styles and teaching staff, the students diversity significantly contributes to what makes it a truly international school.  This range of nationalities provides our students with an awareness of the world – different cultures and understandings, all of which build a mindfulness and respect for the people and the world around us.

Founded in January 2012 and delivering the National Curriculum for England including IGCSES (CIE) and International Primary Curriculum (IPC), NAISAK prides itself on being a truly international British school which achieves the highest academic standards.

NAISAK is a fully accredited member of Qatar National Schools Accreditation (QSNA), the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME), Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and has received a five-year re-accreditation from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, which equates to the highest possible rating.

It is an exciting time to be joining NAISAK, as we are finalising the completion of a new purpose-built building with 16 classrooms, 5 of which are science labs, a new swimming pool and sports facilities.

Additionally, as a member of the Nord Anglia Educational family of schools, NAISAK draws on the strength of this forward-thinking, premium and contemporary global network of 56 schools, across 26 countries.   The school actively engages in Nord Anglia’s Julliard, Global Campus, Unicef and King’s College programmes, to create unique opportunities for students and staff to unlock their potential.

The Role

We seek a talented and experienced leader in education to continue to build upon the school’s tremendous success to date. The Principal takes responsibility for the leadership, organisation and management of the whole school. The post-holder’s key deliverables are aligned with the annual school quality review and the school’s strategic plan. She/he must be an excellent communicator and compelling story-teller, to ensure our new families understand our dynamic educational offer for their children which will in turn drive strong student enrolment.

Key objectives include education quality and outcomes, student well-being, school growth, financial targets, staff development, and resource utilisation.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be an excellent communicator and compelling story-teller
  • Understand how to blend the best of premium education with contemporary international thinking to maintain a distinctive positioning for the school
  • Understand that leading learning is at the heart of school leadership and will build a team committed to delivering this
  • Drive the marketing and admissions process of the school with passion and a focus on quality that grows both the school and the school’s reputation
  • Collaborate and build high performing teams, inspiring sustainable relationships
  • Engage with students, teachers, parents and community leaders in a manner that is open, inclusive and conveys the values of NAE and NAISAK
  • Manage financial budgets and commercial aspects of the school with astuteness and engage with, and contribute successfully to the wider organisation
  • Demonstrate the ability to create and execute a strategic plan and manage complex projects
