Job overview

If you are an inspirational and empathetic leader, with substantial experience as a deputy headteacher/principal in a secondary school, and are looking for new challenges in a school where you can drive up attainment, and can maintain the school’s growth and outstanding reputation this could be your ideal next career move.

Part of the Thames Learning Trust, Reading Girls School is recognised by Department for Education (2019) as performing in the top 1% of all schools nationally. Indeed, we are passionate about encouraging our pupils to be lifelong learners. We want to give them the skills and confidence to face the future with optimism and excitement, knowing that, with hard work and determination, they can succeed. We believe in deeper applied learning to provide the best life chances possible for every student – and whoever takes on this exciting role will be at the helm in doing just that.

As Principal, we will look to you to provide professional leadership and management of the School that will promote a secure foundation from which to achieve high standards in all areas of our work. This will be through effectively leading teaching and learning, promoting excellence, equality and high expectations for all pupils and staff by creating a clear vision and strategic direction.

From evaluating the school’s performance and identify priorities for continuous improvement to deploying resources to achieve its aims, you will be instrumental in making things happen, every step of the way. In addition, when it comes to strengthening our parental engagement, securing the commitment of the wider community or working effectively with Trust colleagues, again, we will count on you to deliver.

To apply, you will need evidence of regular, recent and appropriate professional development for the role of Principal, and experience of having created, driven, and delivered change programmes through effective leadership.  As well as outstanding teaching skills, you will have the enthusiasm, energy and vision to successfully lead a high-calibre team working in a high-achieving academy. You also have what it takes to develop strategies that encourage parents/carers to support their children’s learning. In short, you are ready to take the next step in your successful career to date.

To apply, please complete an application form, together with a covering letter explaining why you are suitable for this position, to aworley@thameslearningtrust.co.uk

Potential candidates will have the opportunity to take a tour of the school on Monday 24th May (am) or Tuesday 25 May (am).

To arrange your visit email aworley@thameslearningtrust.co.uk or call 07841 921958 for an informal chat.

Closing date: Thursday 17 June 2021 at noon.

Interviews will be held Thursday 1st and Friday 2 July 2021.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all the staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any offer of employment is subject to satisfactory references and enhanced DBS checks.
