- Responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society
At Forest we ensure our students benefit from a breadth of curriculum opportunities to learn and thrive as members of our school and local communities. We engender a positive learning culture where young people can aspire, be challenged and excel in an atmosphere of safety and purpose.
Forest Academy is a unique 11-16 school as part of Beal Sixth Form is co-located on the campus and is an intrinsic part of the Forest Academy.

Your opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a small Trust family of three schools and a SCITT. The post would suit either an existing Principal, or a Deputy, with the leadership skills to create an outstanding school building on the good foundations that already exist.
The successful applicant will have the chance to join a highly progressive, successful and unique multi academy trust; unique insofar as it has over 3300 students with only 3 schools. If you are an inspirational and talented senior leader who shares our vision for education and improving the life chances of young people then we would like to hear from you.
We are seeking an outstanding Principal to work to lead their school and work collegiately as a member of the BMAT Trust Executive. You will be a successful senior leader with a very strong record of school improvement, driven by curriculum entitlement and breadth and aspirational progress and progression for all students.
The Role
As Principal of The Forest Academy you will provide professional leadership to help ensure success by securing outstanding overall effectiveness. Leading on continuous improvements in teaching, learning and assessment practice. The post holder will be responsible for creating a productive and purposeful learning environment and for the day-to-day management and organisation of the academy. They should also secure the commitment of the wider community by developing and maintaining effective networks with for example; local primary schools, other institutions and employers. BMAT will offer you structured, regular support, coaching and a wide range of professional development and training to suit your needs.
What we are looking for
- You will be an outstanding communicator, with proven strengths in engaging with, inspiring and motivating, not just the school community but also the wider community.
- You will have experience across the full secondary age range.
- Your understanding of school improvement strategies will be matched by your ability to manage change and to motivate staff and the community towards the achievement of clear and aspirational goals.
- Above all, you will possess a relentless drive to raise standards and secure outstanding teaching for all of our students at the Forest Academy
In line with the Government’s announcement, our academy is closed until further notice. However, during this period it is our intention to continue with critical recruitment for key positions starting in September 2020. In place of academy interviews, alternative options will be offered so that no one is at a disadvantage, and applicants should expect telephone or virtual interviews, with the possibility of onsite academy interviews only in special cases. We want to reassure applicants that effective measures have been implemented to ensure their health and wellbeing whilst on academy premises.
Thank you for your co-operation during this difficult time.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all members of staff to share this commitment. This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
