We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Principal, Head Teacher, or Senior School Leader, to an established, successful, and exceptionally well-resourced all through school, in an affluent and prestigious residential area of Shanghai. 

The school provides an exceptional British style education to international children across a diverse range of nationalities. Secondary students are prepared for leading international examinations. 

The School is linked with many schools across the globe. This network facilitates collaboration on an international scale, wider staff development possibilities, and opportunities for International career development and progression. 

This is an excellent opportunity for an intelligent, ambitious, and energetic Senior Leader, to extend their experience in continuing to grow an esteemed and established school in Shanghai, China. 

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for providing inspirational and engaging leadership which drives continual improvement and the delivery of high quality education to all students across the school. 

Alongside other senior colleagues, stakeholders, and executives, you will be responsible for the school’s development plan and vision, to ensure all actions and outcomes are owned and actioned, and all pupils and staff are empowered to excel and surpass expectations. 

The role requires an individual who can successfully motivate and manage staff by delegating responsibility, setting clear expectations and targets and evaluating staff performance against them. It is a job which requires an impactful presence in school and in the local community, to develop and promote the school’s brand, reputation, and service offering.

About the person

The ideal candidate for this exciting and challenging role will be able to demonstrate:

  • A passion and a drive for excellence at all levels
  • A proven track record of achievement in senior leadership positions in educational institutions
  • Substantial experience of working in a British international school environment outside the UK in a multi-lingual, multi-cultural setting
  • The ability to lead change and achieve sustained improvements through engagement with stakeholders
  • The ability to work collaboratively with peers towards the achievement of common goals

Frequently referred to as China’s best city for foreign nationals, Shanghai is the largest and most cosmopolitan city in China. The glamour and opportunity of Shanghai has attracted individuals to travel, live, and settle here for more than 150 years. With its convenience, diversity, and variety of lifestyle it is easy to see why. 

Shanghai is an extremely safe, welcoming and modern city. There are excellent education facilities, transportation, and amenities across the city, with private healthcare offered as part of the role. Shanghai has two International airports meaning transport links between Shanghai and other countries in the world is easy to navigate.
