Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to lead an improving school to its next stage. Great Academy Ashton is a large 11-16, non-selective academy that serves the communities in and around Ashton-Under-Lyne and the surrounding areas of Tameside. It is part of GAET, an ambitious Multi-Academy Trust, with the highest expectations of all young people in our academies and the skills and strategic leadership to deliver outstanding educational provision.
The role of Principal at Great Academy Ashton will be both challenging and rewarding in equal measure. You will be supported at every step by the GAET Chief Executive Officer, the Trust Board, a Local Governing Committee, a committed senior leadership team and the Trust Education Director and improvement and support team (GIST).
The Principal will create, develop and implement a centre of excellence for the Ashton community and a comprehensive vision for Great Academy Ashton that will enable it to offer to young people an education that is tailored to their individual needs, regardless of background or ability.
The successful applicant must have a thorough understanding of strategic and operational planning and will lead on all matters across Great Academy Ashton.

About Great Academy Ashton
GAA is a non-selective academy and wholly inclusive in ethos. Our partners include The Manchester United Foundation, local schools and businesses, and Tameside Council; together we make sure that GAA students have an unrivalled set of opportunities to broaden their experience and fulfil their ambitions.
We have an exceptional £43 million building and as you would expect, we are able to offer one of the most stimulating learning environments in the North West of England, with cutting edge facilities in each department. Outstanding sports, art, drama and music facilities are available to all students and are regularly used by our community too.
GAA prepares students for their futures by educating minds and developing character. Our students are Genuine, Respectful, Excellent and Achieve Together. I am very proud of all of them, and very proud to be part of the Ashton and Tameside communities.
