Job overview

Graveney School is an outstanding school with a reputation for exceptional achievement consistently over a period of three decades. It is the founding school of Graveney Trust, and continues to innovate and respond to change whilst holding traditional values. The Trust, which now includes two primary schools, has led to the current Principal taking on the role of Chief Executive. As a result, we are now looking to appoint an exceptional school leader to shape the future of the school and continue our work of developing the skills, talents and confidence of each and every one of our students.

Graveney School is a large 11 – 19 state school. We are a diverse and inclusive community with around a third of our students having English as an additional language. With over 700 students in the sixth form we offer one of the widest range of Level 3 courses of any school in the country. We are successful, oversubscribed and consistently achieving excellent student outcomes.

Our personalised approach to learning generates high aspirations, and is underpinned by excellent support, welfare provision and an extensive range of co-curricular opportunities, allowing every student to excel. This is a real opportunity to lead one of the country's foremost state schools, and to join the Trust as it continues to develop its reach across Tooting and the wider local area.

Whether you are a deputy seeking your first headship, or an existing Headteacher, you will be ambitious and student focused, with a track record of leading high quality education. You will have a strong belief in the moral purpose of education and be clear about what makes an exceptional school. You will have the skills and character required – and this will have shaped your success to date.  Your natural approach will be to work with others and understand that building teams and working collaboratively leads to the sum being greater than the parts.
