Job overview

There is an exciting opportunity to join the outstanding Faculty of Maths and Science. The Faculty was awarded Grade 1 in the Ofsted inspection in 2014 and has continued to grow its range of provision with improved learner outcomes ever since. We are primarily based in specialist purpose-built facilities in the Maths and Science Centre. The College also has ambitious plans for the next phase of its development including a new centre to support the growth of our A Level courses. The Faculty delivers a range of maths and science courses primarily at Level three including A Levels, IB maths and science courses, Access to HE and BTEC Applied Science. Note that the GCSE maths resit programme is delivered elsewhere in the college. The Faculty listens to its learners and we have positive learner feedback. You will be joining an experienced, supportive team with a strong commitment to sharing ideas and resources. You will also benefit from support within the Faculty including a mentor, Tutorial Lead and Curriculum Area Manager as well as working with an Advanced Teaching Practitioner. The Programme Leader element of the role will involve taking responsibility for an element of curriculum provision. You will also act as a personal tutor for a group of learners who will also comprise one of your teaching groups.

The role is to deliver Level 3 Maths, the majority of which is A level provision but could also include Core Maths, IB maths, maths support for our BTEC learners, or maths units on our Access to HE courses. Flexibility to teach across a range of courses is advantageous. There is some flexibility in hours for this role and may be from 0.6 full-time equivalent, up to full time. Please indicate in your supporting statement the hours that you are specifically looking for.

Applications from experienced teachers, as well as those newer to the profession are welcome; we will be seeking to appoint a teacher with the greatest ability and enthusiasm in the classroom and commitment to our students.

The closing date for receipt of completed applications: end of Tuesday, 18 May 2021.

Interviews: Thursday, 27 May 2021.
