As Pupil and Family Support Worker, your primary role is to support children and their families and reduce barriers to learning. These barriers to learning may be a result of something happening within the school or externally. The Family Support Worker will work alongside teaching staff and existing pastoral systems to provide an extra layer of support for pupils, to be responsible for family liaison support including developing relationships with families that have problems accessing services, families needing additional support and for community links.

What we are looking for

  • Training in child protection and safeguarding procedures
  • Full working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice
  • Experience of working in an school or educational establishment

About Harris Primary Academy Purley Way

Harris Primary Academy Purley Way opened in 2016 with its first cohort of Reception children and their families, and now educates children from Reception to Year 2. Since 2017, the academy has been based in purpose built, three storey building, with state of the art technology and resources and facilities to support the school on its journey to Outstanding. Harris Primary Academy Purley Way will grow year on year to provide classes from Reception to Year 6 and offer three forms of entry by 2022.

School summary

Harris Primary Academy Purley Way is a new academy, which opened in September 2016 as part of the Harris Federation: a London based charity that has more than 20 years’ experience of running successful schools in London. The brand new school opened initially with Reception children and will grow each year.

At Harris Primary Academy Purley Way, you will be part of a team that is laying the foundations and work collaboratively to build a safe, nurturing and inspiring environment, which offers educational excellence for our community and ensures that all children can make the best start to their academic journey.

At HPA Purley Way, we work tirelessly to provide a fun and creative curriculum which evokes and inspires curiosity, and exploration through play.  The individual needs and abilities of every child are extended through tailored, high quality provision.
