Bedminster Down attracts pupils from a large, increasing, number of partner primaries from across the south-west side of the city, with families resident from Highridge to Windmill Hill, as well as Bishopsworth, Headley Park and Bedminster. A measure of the school’s growing popularity is that we have had well over three hundred applications for 216 places in September 2017. Our last OFSTED inspection in 2014 found the school to be judged as good overall, with good findings for behaviour, leadership teaching and achievements. In 2016 the school received its highest ever GCSE results.
At Bedminster Down we have an absolute belief that with the right support and encouragement every student will succeed. Our challenging and motivating curriculum ensures that the most able; those in need of additional support and all other learners are stretched and supported to achieve their potential. Our students benefit and thrive in our learning environment that promotes high-quality learning experiences, teamwork, communication and independence. Lessons are supplemented by over twenty five extra-curricular activities. Our curriculum and pastoral systems ensure students skills and abilities are nurtured and foster excellent relationships with parents. We want our School future success to be measured not just in terms of great exam results but also in terms of our ability to give our students something extra that will give them an advantage in an ever more competitive world.
