Job overview

Vision for Education are currently looking for a Pupil Support Assistant to start at a school in January that caters for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues. This role is a fixed term position, so anyone applying for the post needs to be looking for a permanent/long term job. This position would suit somebody with experience of working in partnership with multidisciplinary teams either within or outside of a school setting to ensure the progress and inclusion of society’s most vulnerable and hard to reach young people. The successful candidate will have had experience working with mental health and/or children or adults that demonstrate challenging behaviour. The pupils that you will be working with will have been removed from mainstream education and placed in this specialist provision that can meet their needs. If you have not worked in Education before, please don't let this deter you from applying for this post as Vision for Education will give you the necessary training and CPD prior to starting the post should you be successful.

The Successful candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Must be looking for a full time permanent job
  • Have experience working with mental health issues or challenging behaviour in a similar setting
  • Must have an unconditional and unwavering commitment to help the most vulnerable young people in society
  • Up to date CV demonstrating relevant sector experience

The following attributes are desirable but not essential:

  • Child workforce DBS on the Update service
  • In date Team Teach Training certificate
  • Recent experience working in a Pupil referral unit or Residential care setting with children that present with mental health issues
  • Educated to degree level
