PYP Coordinator

Kristiansand International SchoolKristiansand, Norway

Kristiansand International School is currently looking for a full time PYP Coordinator to join our staff from August 2021.  The school, which opened in 2008, is just about to go through its second evaluation visit, so the new coordinator will come into the role with a very recent self-study questionnaire and what we confidently expect to be a good evaluation report from the IB.  As the attached job description shows, the role is split into two main parts: roughly 40% of time is allocated to supporting staff in building a good programme, with another 30% time spent on various admin related tasks.  The position will carry a 30% teaching responsibility.

The person we are looking for to fill this role will be someone who understands the IB curriculum at all levels: planned, learned and taught.  They should have empathy for the learning process of both staff and students, a strong focus on building positive supportive relationships, and a commitment to building a culture of collaboration.

This position is an important one for the school.  KIS is a small school, and the PYP Coordinator is involved in all aspects of schooling for younger students, working closely with all members of the community to create a clear understanding of the programme within our context.  The PYP Coordinator is a member of the leadership team, along with the Principal and the MYP Coordinator and is actively involved in both the day-to-day operations of the school and planning for future development.  The position will also require collaboration with other PYP coordinators and school leaders in Norway.
