Job overview

ANDREE MALRAUX Primary School – EALING

 QUALIFIED PRIMARY ENGLISH TEACHER

Full time (21h per week) Fixed-term Contract

The Lycée Français Charles De Gaulle, London, is looking for a Qualified Primary Teacher (Fluent Level English Speaker) from 1st September 2022 to 4th November 2022 to be a specialist English Teacher at our site in Hanwell, Ealing.

The successful candidate would teach all aspects of English Language and Literature as well as some other subjects taken from the French Curriculum in English, in mixed-ability classes ranging from Nursery to Year 6.

Candidates should be highly creative, dynamic, energetic and interested in working with our dedicated team of French and English teachers and our motivated young pupils.

Pupils learn to read in English from midway through Year 2, meaning the teachers must be willing to learn how our specialised English Programme has been adapted from the English National Curriculum to accommodate the fact that pupils are learning two languages.

A good working knowledge of French to understand the content of staff meetings and email communication is preferred.

Interested candidates are required to fill in an application form. The completed application, a Curriculum Vitae and a covering letter explaining why you feel you would be suitable for the role must be sent to Mrs Cerian Maraviglia, Primary English Coordinator for the Lycée’s Schools, at the following email address by Tuesday, 7th June 2022 midnight:

● Cerian Maraviglia - cmaraviglia@lyceefrancais.org.uk

Successful candidates will be invited to teach an observation lesson and attend an interview during the week beginning Monday 13th June.

No agencies please.

The Lycée is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all its staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The offer will be subject to satisfactory enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. (This procedure is undertaken by the Lycée).

Additionally, anyone who has resided outside the UK will be asked to provide evidence of a clean criminal record from their country of residence.

Salary: Dependent upon experience and qualifications.

The Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle is a wonderful and mighty establishment, of truly international character, its roots firmly in the heart of South Kensington. Through the passage of time since its inception in 1915, the school has evolved: more than forty nationalities are now represented within our community.

One thing has not changed though throughout this time: our capacity to develop our educational practices whilst never losing sight of our tradition of excellence. Whichever section it may be, British, International, Bilingual, Multilingual or French – this balance of tradition with modernity provides our students with a unique experience in an exceptional environment.

The school makes a simple and honest commitment: to offer each child the best conditions in which to realise their academic potential, to be able to develop and thrive in a peaceful environment and achieve the level of excellence required to access their desired course even at the most competitive universities. We nurture each individual with care and help them build self-confidence – this remains our pledge to our families as much today as it has been for over a century.
