Manningtree High School is a successful, rural secondary school with a strong community feel. We are a mixed, fully comprehensive school serving the local area and work closely with primary and post-16 partners as well as other local secondary schools.  The school is set in a pleasant rural location only 10 miles from the centre of Colchester and close to the Suffolk border. We currently have around 890 11-16 students on roll.

We are seeking an excellent RE teacher to join our school who is able to challenge and engage students as they explore world religions, analyse and evaluate rituals, theory and practice and developing as critical thinkers and expressive writers. Applications are welcomed from NQT’s as well as experienced teachers to teach across Key Stage 3 through to GCSE.  The person appointed will enthuse, inspire and motivate students and be passionate about attainment and progress.

The school is part of the Alpha MAT which holds the Teaching School status and offers an excellent induction and ongoing staff development.  Our students are well behaved and motivated and examination results are very good.  Our ‘good’ Ofsted grading was confirmed again in April 2018.

At Manningtree we strive to give every student the best education to suit their needs, we have high expectations of students and staff are expected to share this commitment for our young people.

We would be delighted to hear from you if you feel that you can make a positive contribution to our future successes.

Our students are well behaved and motivated and examination results are excellent.

We can offer you:

• A strong and dedicated team to work with.

We are an Equal Opportunities employer. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All post holders are subject to employment checks and a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Visits to the school are encouraged and warmly welcomed.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to submit their application as soon as possible as the school reserves the right to close the advert should we feel able to appoint an appropriate candidate.

Manningtree High School is a warm and welcoming learning community. We are ambitious for our students and our staff.

The school is situated close to areas of natural beauty on the Essex/Suffolk border. We have a comprehensive intake who travel from a wide area around: we are consistently oversubscribed.

The continuous improvement of teaching and learning is important to us and we want to recruit staff who love their profession and are energised by helping young people gain knowledge and skills. Our students are well behaved and enjoy belonging to MHS. Pastoral care is a real strength.

The school was last inspected in 2018 and our ‘Good’ status was confirmed. We have continued to develop strengths in curriculum delivery, design and assessment since then.

On the 1st September 2019 Manningtree High School became a member of the Alpha Trust, joining the Gilberd School, Colchester County High School for Girls, Home Farm Primary School and the planned Trinity School in that Multi Academy Trust.
