The Laurus Trust is a highly successful multi-academy Trust in the North West of England. As the Recruitment Assistant, you will be responsible for the day to day recruitment and onboarding lifecycles for all new starters. 

The post would be ideal for someone with prior experience recruiting into the education sector who is now looking to join a Multi-Academy Trust. You must be highly organised with the flexibility to adapt and react to urgent requirements, whilst also taking a proactive approach in developing the recruitment function further. 

We are looking for someone who is confident in their ability to build collaborative and effective working relationships with other departments, internal stakeholders and senior leadership. We are keen to hear innovate ideas and new campaigns to increase candidate attraction and you will be part of a team who ensure a first-class service to Hiring Managers and Candidates alike

Main Responsibilities  

  • Build collaborative and effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders    
  • Provide support and guidance to all Managers regarding the attraction, recruitment and onboarding processes     
  • Monitor and advise on the recruitment and selection process, including all recruitment checks required in line with statutory guidance and legal frameworks    
  • Work on high volume annual recruitment campaign.    
  • Design and update job adverts and manage the advertising process on multiple platforms    
  • Research and innovate methods of targeted attraction     
  • Work collaboratively with our Marketing Department to promote vacancies     
  • Ensure all our platforms, templates and process templates are up to date and fit for purpose    
  • Raise finance requisitions and submit Business Card Requests    
  • Maintain our onboarding portal to ensure a positive and professional first impression for new starters of the Trust     
  • Ensure recruitment standard operating procedures are in place and clearly communicated    
  • Deliver training and guidance on recruitment, selection, assessment and onboarding     
  • Proactively contribute to the ongoing development of the service    
  • Provide relevant data and contribute to the annual HR metrics report    
  • Support with the organising, facilitation of and attendance at recruitment events

Key Skills & Experience   

  • Prior experience of recruiting within the education sector is preferred but not essential    
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage a high-volume workload     
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving     
  • Sound educational background with a minimum grade C in Maths & English GCSE    
  • Experience of working with HR systems would be advantageous

Central Services

The nucleus of the Trust is our multi-functional and dedicated Central Services Team who provides continuous operational support to all of our schools across the Trust. This includes HR, Recruitment, Finance, Payroll & Pensions Administration, Marketing & Communications, IT, Estates & Facilities Management and Compliance and Data. Each team works tirelessly to ensure all services run smoothly and efficiently, enabling our teaching staff to focus on delivering an outstanding education for our students.

Over the years the Trust has expanded to now include 6 Secondary Schools and 3 Primary Schools. We have two further schools in the pre-opening phase: Laurus Grace, a school catering for students with significant social, emotional and mental health needs, and Crown Street Primary, a new primary in the heart of Manchester City Centre.
