United Learning is a group of schools which aims to provide excellent education and improve the life chances of all the children and young people we serve. As a Regional Director to our growing portfolio of secondary academies in the north of England, you could be at the helm of that ambition.

With the overarching ethos of ‘bringing out the best in everyone’, our collaborative team of Regional Directors are committed to making a transformative impact on the lives of thousands of children and young people. Join us, and you will be entrusted with leading the improvement of a number of our secondary academies in the region, working with school leaders to raise standards and enhance their progress. Passionate about supporting the most exceptional educational opportunities for children, you will deliver the Group’s strategy and vision, translating this into practical guidance and solutions that are individually tailored to each school’s unique requirements.

On a day-to-day basis, we will expect you to line-manage a number of Headteachers. Reporting to the Director of Secondary Education, you will use your previous experience as a Headteacher to support school leaders in developing improvement provisions, often in challenging contexts. We know that the educational profession isn’t easy, but at United Learning, we work as a team, achieving more by collaborating than any single school could on their own. Utilising collective knowledge and facilities to drive visionary results, you will therefore simplify work processes and implement ambitious support programmes, making the most of sector-leading subject specialists, a group-wide curriculum, a group-wide intranet and our online learning hub.  With this support behind you, you will focus on the practicalities of elevating each of your academies to the highest standards.

To make the most of this career-defining opportunity, you will need a strong track record in coaching others and developing effective school improvement strategies. With the chance to oversee group-wide strategic projects, you will bring well-developed relationship-building and influencing skills to the role, and your innovative mindset will deliver impactful change.

United Learning is the largest national group of schools. And as a group, we can reward our staff better. From unique career progression opportunities and better pay to enhanced benefits and a highly-respected wellbeing programme, we will ensure you have the support you need to secure a great work/life balance – all while helping children to succeed.

From Carlisle in the north to Bognor Regis on the south coast, our primary and secondary academies and independent schools are providing an excellent education to young people across the country. To be a part of this fascinating journey, please contact Holly.Cookson@unitedlearning.org.uk in order to arrange a time to speak with the Director of Secondary Education, Dame Sally Coates.

United Learning is a large, and growing, group of schools, across both primary and secondary phases, and the state and independent sectors. We aim to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our teachers are passionate about their work. We know that teaching can be a tough profession, but with the right support and a commitment to seeing the best in each other, we work tirelessly to find creative ways to educate. By working as a team, we can achieve more together by sharing than any single teacher, department or school could alone. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed.

To produce the best learning experiences for our pupils, we believe it’s essential to enhance the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) capabilities of both teachers and support staff, and our range of programmes, facilitated by the United Learning Institute support your to develop and progress within your career.

Our rewards and wellbeing programmes help us show we care about you. We're working with experts in the field to introduce a Group-wide wellbeing programme to support you every day, and every academy offers at least eight INSET days per academic year, with three solely dedicated to planning. Additionally, you can access a range of flexible benefits that suit your lifestyle, from reduced childcare costs and gym memberships, to cycle to work and health programmes, hundreds of retail discounts, and many more.

Teaching is a challenging – yet fantastic – profession. It takes a dedicated practitioner with a solid team of support staff behind them to make a real difference to a child’s life.

That’s why we believe so passionately in the power of sharing. When everyone is working together towards the same goal, we enrich life for every member of staff. Our pupils can expect an outstanding education from a committed team of practitioners that share one core value – to see children and young people achieve their full potential. It's an ethos we call the best in everyone’.

It’s a challenging brief, but one that we’re meeting with a skilled workforce who are supported every step of the way.
