Based at Montgomery Primary Academy - (Travel is required across Lea Forest Primary Academy, Four Dwellings Primary Academy & Percy Shurmer Primary Academy)

32.5 hours per week, Full Time, 44 weeks per year

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a newly qualified or experienced Regional Speech and Language Therapy to join our Trust you will be working across 4 of our primary academies in Birmingham. You will deliver a service to children with a range of speech, language, and communication needs in our academies. You will work with children to assist and support the delivery of a high-quality and bespoke intervention. 

Speech and Language Therapists will work closely with teaching staff, Principles, and parents to provide a coordinated service to the children and young people. You will have knowledge of child development and experience in carrying out care programmes. They will be confident in demonstrating and explaining advice and strategies to teaching staff and parents. You will be an integral part of a supportive and innovative team where training and personal development are actively encouraged.

Essential Requirements: 

  • UK-recognised Degree/Diploma in Speech & Language Therapy   
  • Registered member of The Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists and member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).   
  • Commitment to carrying out regular continuing professional development (CPD) and to meeting HCPC standards and RCSLT CQ Standards   
  • Postgraduate courses/training demonstrating commitment to continued life-long learning and development

Montgomery Primary Academy is an award winning and high achieving school with strong leadership and a commitment to staff development.

We are a 3 form entry primary and proud to serve the communities around Central Birmingham. Over the last three years, significant investment in our building and commitment from our talented staff team has meant that attainment has risen and we are a securely ‘good’ school (Ofsted 2018).

We work closely with our primary partner Percy Shurmer Academy, and we share resources, staff, training and place an emphasis on effective and tailored professional development.

Montgomery Primary Academy and Percy Shurmer Academy work in partnership to provide our children with an outstanding education. As partner schools we have an overarching vision and shared values that bind our schools together. Through our collaboration both schools are strengthened. The efficient use of shared resources enables the partnership to provide additional resources to our pupils and offer a wide range of opportunities for pupils, parents, staff and the wider community. We ensure success for all our pupils through innovative and inspirational teaching , as both schools work together to share best practice.

Montgomery Primary Academy and Percy Shurmer Academy are led by an Executive Principal and one management board. Each school has a Head of School. Their role is to ensure that each school gains the optimum benefit from the partnership, as they translate the values and vision to ensure success for each unique school.

Our Curriculum

We believe that children learn best when their learning experiences are evocative, therefore we teach most of our subjects through a connected curriculum.

This works by delivering a different theme in each year group for each term throughout the year. The curriculum is planned so that as many learning experiences as possible are linked to this theme; this allows the children to see that their skills are all connected. During the children's learning we try to integrate as many real life experiences as possible that are related to the area they are studying.

Literacy, Numeracy and ICT underline our curriculum to ensure that the key skills children need for success, are fully learned before the children move on to secondary education. Therefore, our curriculum is skills based and children learn to apply these skills in every part of their learning.
