Shenstone School is a primary special school (2-11) for pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties. We are based across two sites - the Early Years Centre is in Sidcup (Nursery – Year 1) the main school site is in Crayford (Year 2 – Year 6). The school is committed to pupil progress and celebrating the achievement of the individual child. Shenstone School was judged as a 'good' school by Ofsted November 2015.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Teaching Assistant on a relief basis. Qualifications and experience essential.  Duties will include supporting the Teacher in the delivery of the curriculum and all aspects of the classroom work. It is a physical job (using slings and hoists). Teaching Assistant daily duties involve manual handling and Team Teach Techniques. You need to be conscientious, reliable and hard-working and be able to work on your own initiative as well as being able to support the team.  The pupils are amazing and will give you a sense of achievement when they make progress, however small.  Training will be given on many aspects. Previous applicants need not apply.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Offers of employment are subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure and other employment checks.

This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers.  The school therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the person specification. These will be applied during the recruitment/selection and probationary stages. References will be requested for those short listed ONLY and prior to interview.  Only those shortlisted for interview will be contacted.
