Vision and values

St Hugh’s School’s aim is to create happy, well-rounded children who are able to succeed academically and are considerate to the needs of others. Teachers strive to create a happy and stimulating environment, so each pupil can fulfil their potential not only academically but also spiritually, mentally and physically. They want to educate each pupil beyond the classroom and promote traditional values of courtesy, honesty, hard work, independence, unselfishness and responsibility.

Literacy and numeracy are a major focus for the school. However, pupils throughout the school also receive specialist training in Modern Languages, ICT, music, PE, science and swimming, plus Forest School activities.

ISI report

“Teaching is firmly based upon an understanding of the pupils’ needs and the way in which they learn, and the very best teaching involves pupils fully in their learning. Teachers are well qualified and have commitment, dedication and a huge enthusiasm for their teaching.”
