Job overview

Durham Cathedral School Foundation requires two full time Resident Tutors (one male and one female) to join us from September 2021 until July 2022 to carry out boarding duties, assist with sport and the weekly co-curricular activities programme and supervision during the School day at our Chorister School site. Additionally, the Resident Tutors will work alongside our Choir Supervisor to support the duties of the Choristers.

The successful applicant should be a confident and proactive team player who is able to take the initiative and interact easily with our children in both the Boarding House and the School. Applicants need to be flexible in approach and be a caring, fun-loving person who enjoys working with young people. The Resident Tutor will be expected to show leadership qualities, to be a role model to pupils and to develop appropriate relationships with both staff and students. Applicants should have an excellent command of English and a good level of literacy and numeracy.

The position is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate taking a gap year and wanting to gain experience in a school to explore and develop a career in education.

For further information about the role, please contact, The Chorister School Housemistress, Mrs Rachel Faulkner-Walford at housemistressrfw@thechoristerschool.com

All applications are to be submitted on the School’s application form; available from: https://www.durhamschool.co.uk/vacancies.asp. Alternatively, please contact the Headmaster’s Personal assistant, Mrs Susan Spence hmsec@durhamschool.co.uk

Closing date for applications is Friday 14th May. Interviews will take place in the following two weeks.

DCSF is committed to promoting the safeguarding of children and expects all its employees to share this commitment. Any job offer will be made subject to satisfactory checks, including an enhanced DBS disclosure.
