Job overview

Basic Purpose: To provide for the welfare and complete care of all pupils on any given boarding area within the school, in accordance withthe school’s policies and guidelines.

Principal Accountabilities:

Boarding Houses:

Responsibility for the efficient day-to-day running of the boarding house in consultation with  the Pastoral Manager and the Deputy Principal.                                            

Medical:

Liaison with the school’s medical staff to ensure correct care and welfare of the pupils. Basic first aid training is provided unless a qualification is already held.

Pastoral Care:

The care of the individual pupil: sympathetic, caring, responsible and patient understanding of the age group.

Duties:

The Houseparent will be expected to cover duties such as meal supervision, prep supervision and escorting pupils to medical appointments.  He/she will also be expected to complete pastoral reports, maintain pastoral records of pupils and other administrative tasks.

Parents:

Liaison with parents, in consultation with the Deputy Principal.

Health and Safety:

Responsibility for all aspects of safety as directly related to the boarding areas, including completion of annual risk assessments.

Extraneous Duties:

The undertaking of any reasonable additional duties at the request of the Deputy Principal and Principal.

Other Requirements: Full, clean driving licence.
