Job overview

BOARDING HOUSE RESIDENTIAL TUTOR

For September 2018

Claremont School is a co-educational, independent day and boarding school for children aged 1 to 18. We have approximately 700 students with a community of approximately 100 boarders from the UK as well as other countries around the world, adding an important international and multi-cultural dimension to the school.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Residential Tutor, for one of two boarding houses, to start in September 2018.  The successful candidate will have a passion for boarding and school life as a whole.

The position would suit someone with experience of working in a boarding environment and will require teamwork, flexibility, compassion, resilience and a good sense of humour.  The successful candidate should have knowledge of the statement of national minimum standards for boarding schools (NMS) and have relevant experience of working with young people between the ages of 11 and 18. Although this is a non-teaching position and holding a teaching qualification is not essential, there will be opportunities to involve yourself in both the academic and sporting life at the school.

The ethos of boarding at Claremont is to provide a home-from-home feel and that of a large extended family. With that in mind, our two boarding houses are situated off-site to allow boarders to enjoy the benefit of leaving school every day, returning to a home environment.  Every boarder is encouraged to develop their full potential in all areas of life and one of Claremont’s many strengths is its broad co-curricular programme. Claremont School boasts extensive facilities across two sites in the East Sussex countryside and is currently undergoing a period of expansion and development. As a non-selective school, Claremont is thriving in terms of examination results, enrichment, art, musical and sporting achievement.

In September 2017, Claremont School underwent a full boarding, welfare and care Ofsted inspection, achieving Outstanding in all categories. This accompanies the full school Ofsted inspection, conducted in April 2016, where Claremont attained an ‘Outstanding’ rating in all areas. Therefore, you will be joining an established team, operating to the highest standards of education and care.

This is a full-time, residential position. Salary commensurate with experience. Please note that the accommodation provided is only suitable for a single person, we do not have accommodation suitable for a family or pets.

To apply for the position, please visit our website to read the full job description, Ofsted report and Safeguarding/Recruitment policies. You should then complete our application form and send it to the Principal, Mr Giles Perrin.
