About Havering Sixth Form College

Havering Sixth Form College is a mixed sixth-form college of more than 2000 students aged 16-19, located in Hornchurch, Essex. First opened in 1991, the college offers courses such as A-levels, BTECs and GCSEs. The college boasts an array of modern facilities, including a dedicated performing arts centre, an athletics hall and a modern gymnasium.

Havering Sixth Form College provides a bursary for students requiring additional financial support. Each learner has a weekly meeting with a preassigned “coach”, who will offer support and track their progress at the college.

Headteacher

Values and vision

The ethos of the college is primarily based around the notion of self-discipline, with students being given the freedom and flexibility to study on their own terms, with access to additional support should they require it.

Students have significant input into the way the college is run, with the student council playing a part in decision-making. Havering Sixth Form College aims to properly prepare its young people for higher education or the world of work, with extensive opportunities for students to receive advice about how best to enter their chosen career.

Ofsted report

"Students have a very positive attitude to learning, work well together and independently, and produce work of a high standard. Pre-course information, advice and guidance, and a strong collaboration with other education providers, ensure students are placed on the courses to which they are most suited, resulting in high retention and positive progression."
