Job overview

Are you looking for an exciting new challenge within education? If so, we have a perfect opportunity to share with you!

The role

We are delighted to be recruiting for a new Safeguarding Officer (SO) to join KAA from September 2022.  This could be a great option for someone with a background in education, social care or similar to join our academy and make a huge difference to our students and families.

Working alongside one other counterpart and reporting into the Senior Safeguarding Officer, you will be responsible for safeguarding matters across all a range of year groups.  You will work closely with Directors of Learnings (DoLs), Heads of Department, SEN leaders and other pastoral staff to ensure that safeguarding practice goes from strength to strength and that the students you work with receive the best care.

To do this, we are looking for a person who can model good professional knowledge, compassion and pragmatism through their safeguarding practice.  They will be calm under pressure and have the skillset to navigate the unique challenges of safeguarding within a diverse student community like ours.

Above all else, the SO will be a highly organised, dynamic and approachable individual who will act as an advocate for our KAA community, build positive relationships with external agencies and partners and model compassion and empathy through their professional practice.

Full training will be provided for the successful candidate during their induction period.

What KAA offers

KAA’s Safeguarding team are highly respected within KAA and are an incredibly valued part of our staff body. If you join KAA, you will be joining a school that is highly committed to the safety and welfare of children and are heavily invested in safeguarding compliance.

The role is being offered on a 42-week contract, with fantastic benefits. Working hours are 8am until 5pm Monday – Thursday and 8am until 4pm on Friday.

What you offer KAA

With a diverse student body with a high level of deprivation, we are looking for a kind-hearted and empathetic person, who has the ability to encourage students to achieve their best despite their adversity. The ideal person will be a positive role model to our young people, as well as a trusted colleague to their peers, many of whom will act as a support network to many colleagues around them.

At KAA we have a proud tradition of developing and investing in our staff. This role offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience which could service as a great platform for a career in safeguarding, social care or teaching.

The interview process will take place on Monday 18th July  in person at KAA.

About Kensington Aldridge Academy (KAA)

KAA is an 11 – 18 academy situated in the heart of Notting Hill. We opened in brand new buildings in 2014 with just Year 7 and our facilities are second to none. We are now in our ninth year of operation and are a full school with 1,250 students in Years 7 to 13.

KAA has grown to become one of the top academies in the UK. Our Ofsted report grades us outstanding in all categories and describes standards as “exceptional”. In 2018 we were awarded TES Secondary School of the Year, and our 2022 Good Schools Guide review praises the “phenomenal” education students receive.

Why work for KAA?

Making a real difference

KAA pursues the very highest standards in education, both inside the classroom and beyond. We believe all children can achieve good results, irrespective of their prior attainment or experiences. 60% of our students qualify for the Pupil Premium, but with our help they can overcome the barriers that relative poverty can create. Our ethos, spirit and commitment to ever-extending student achievement make KAA an incredible place to work and learn.

Unrivalled professional development

KAA is a high-performing environment where staff at all levels feel challenged and supported to achieve their professional goals. As you will see in our Ofsted report, CPD in our school is of an “exceptional” standard and is an ongoing focus for all staff. There are few better places to develop your skills as a teacher than here with us in Kensington.

Being valued

We invest in our staff and offer unique benefits, including: 180 school days (as opposed to the 190 other schools have); 15 training days (as opposed to 5); free breakfast and lunch for all staff everyday; a two-week half term in October; free staff exercise and well-being sessions, and much more.
