This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and conscientious Safeguarding Officer to join the pastoral team here at The Mirfield Free Grammar & Mirfield College. 

Safeguarding is at the top of our educational agenda and this is a key role within our Academy. 

As Safeguarding Officer, you will be at the heart of the safeguarding team, supporting the effective operation of the safeguarding service on a day to day basis across the Academy and the College. 

You will play a lead role in the ongoing development of our safeguarding policy and processes and you will support the Designated Safeguarding Lead in maintaining an embedded safeguarding culture throughout the Academy, ensuring that safeguarding is a shared responsibility in all areas of Academy operation. 

As the school Safeguarding Officer, you will have primary responsibility for managing and reporting any concerns about children and ensuring that robust procedures are adhered to in the interests of safeguarding our students. Working with other key staff within the Academy, you will help us in maintaining a positive and effective, best practice safeguarding operation. 

We are looking for someone who has previous experience gained within a safeguarding role. 

You must be familiar the safeguarding systems and processes that are essential in keeping children safe in education. You must have excellent communication skills and be comfortable using these skills at all levels.  

You must also be highly organised with excellent attention to detail. 

This is a really rewarding role and will be a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop their education career within a small and supportive Multi-Academy Trust.

Local Information

Mirfield is a small West Yorkshire town and lies on the A644 between Dewsbury & Huddersfield. Surrounded by rolling hills and fields there are many lovely views in Mirfield, one of the nicest being from the staff room window! Mirfield has a wealth of historical figures associated with it such as Robin Hood, the Luddites and the Bronte’s. More recently, it has produced such fine actors as Patrick Stewart who is also a patron of the school.  Situated very close to the M62, M1 and the A1, Mirfield is within very easy access of most of the North particularly Manchester, Liverpool, York, Sheffield and Hull.  There is a lot of beautiful countryside to explore and for those who prefer the city life, Mirfield is easily commutable from the vibrant and exciting Leeds city centre.
