Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic Finance Professional to join our team.

At The Blue School we value tradition, while being highly futures-focused and promoting innovation. Ours is a high-performing and happy school. Our strong Christian vision drives our commitment to provide every child in our community with an exceptional education.

This new post has been created to meet the needs of the school now that it has grown to almost 500 children and over 50 staff. A Finance Officer vacancy has presented the opportunity to develop the role into a SBM function.   Our current financial management is very effective and the school’s finances are in a reasonable position.  The core SBM role will be to manage all aspects of finance from the day to day processes to assisting the headteacher with long term financial planning. Ensuring that the school is fully compliant with financial regulations and local procedures will be essential.   The successful appointee will work closely with the Headteacher and Governors who are supportive and knowledgeable.

There is a high degree of flexibility in the role and opportunity to include oversight of site management as indicated in the job description. Regular maintenance and supervision of cleaning  is dealt with by our very experienced caretaker and his assistant.  The focus for this SBM role would be to oversee this, to ensure we get the best possible value for money in our contracts, to strengthen monitoring of compliance relating to site and H&S issues and developing longer term site planning.  This is an area we are keen to develop further in terms of income generation.

SCHOOL HISTORY

Established in 1630, The Blue School is one of the oldest Church of England schools in the country yet we continue to adapt to the needs of an ever-changing society and its children. Ours is an oversubscribed, high-performing and inclusive school in the heart of the Isleworth community. We have a popular nursery for children ages 3+ and two-form entry primary provision to age 11.

We combine tradition with innovation and creativity to provide education which has been consistently rated as 'outstanding' for over a decade (Ofsted and SIAMS).  Results are very high - in the top 10% nationally.  Our staff, parents and children also all rate the school highly.

ABOUT US

At The Blue School we take great pride in our school and everything associated with it. We have a clear Christian vision, valuing one another as individuals and as children of God.  We require all colleagues to be in sympathy with our Christian ethos, whether or not they actively practise currently.

Our staff are highly valued and well supported.  Teaching is consistently outstanding and colleagues work collaboratively to maintain excellent practice while keeping workload under control  We have highly efficient systems to minimise bureaucracy so that staff can concentrate on teaching. We have a strong focus on professional development and all staff are encouraged to learn from the best practice both within and beyond our school.

Pupils are encouraged to take care of their appearance, be responsible for their behaviour, communicate confidently and respect others and their environment.  We have a highly developed system of rewards and multiple opportunities for children to excel and develop leadership skills.  Inclusion, wellbeing and character development are important strands of of our approach. Parents welcome this and are very supportive of the school.

We work efficiently, cooperatively and with good humour, while staying focused on our own specialist areas of work.
