Job overview

The Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and approachable (lay or ordained) Catholic Chaplain to this popular and oversubscribed selective school, 4 times judged OUTSTANDING by OFSTED, which is committed to the ideals of Catholic education. The most recent Section 48 inspection (November 2018) also judged the school as outstanding.

St Michael’s is now part of the Loreto Education Trust so the Chaplain will work in conjunction with the Loreto English Education Network regarding chaplaincy work across all the Loreto schools.

The Chaplain is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the liturgical life of the School, together with the Head of RE.  Ideally suited to this role would be someone with excellent communication skills and a highly organised approach.

Ofsted

“St Michael’s is an outstanding school. Standards are exceptionally high, amongst the highest found nationally, both at GCSE and A level, and continue to improve.  The [then-] headteacher and her deputy provide outstanding leadership. They, very ably supported by the senior leadership team, have a strong vision for the education of girls rooted in the Catholic faith, which contributes so much to the ethos of the school.”
