Job overview

At ARK Kings Academy we take safeguarding very seriously. All adults who regularly work on our site are required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to prevent unsuitable people from working with students. Ark is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in our academies. To meet this responsibility, we follow a rigorous selection process. This process is outlined here, but can be provided in more detail if requested. All successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Our mission as a school is to create a school in which every child thrives, academically and socially. Our school values are: 'Aspire. Expect. Achieve. Together’ – and they permeate everything we do in school with our pupils, our parents, our staff and the wider community. We recognise our role in addressing inequality by ensuring that all pupils, regardless of circumstance have the opportunity to attain an excellent education.

We are seeking an approachable, qualified in-school counsellor to work with students across our all through school.

You will provide a professional and confidential counselling service to our children, promoting emotional health and wellbeing, as well as equipping them with the tools they need to become and remain resilient. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of our children and significantly reduce the emotional barriers to learning young people face.

In addition to offering a counselling service, you will be the main point of contact for staff seeking wellbeing advice and will support the senior leadership team in their focus on staff mental health and wellbeing.

You will be part of our expanded in house welfare team and will add crucial on the ground services to support our young children.  This is an exciting time to get involved with our school and our improvement journey.
