The William Henry Smith School is a non-maintained residential special school for boys aged 5-19 experiencing complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges (SEMH). Our students have a breadth of special educational needs, including learning difficulty and disability. We are a not for profit charitable organisation providing ‘Ofsted Outstanding’ education, therapy and care. Our vision is to ensure opportunities for success are provided through a diverse programme of bespoke individual learning pathways and life skills across the 24 hour curriculum which serve to develop resilience and skills for life-long learning, happiness and an improved quality of life. The school has a strong ethos and culture, built upon firm foundations that underpins all our work on improving quality of life outcomes for our students and their families, through our strong focus on keyworking, developing relationships with students and partnerships with parents and carers.

We are looking to recruit a  Part Time School Nurse - Occupational Health to provide advice in the care and wellbeing of the workforce (and families), protecting and promoting good health and preventing illness through proactive measures. To ensure professional support to all employees at the school in respect of health supervision, risk assessments and provide treatment on accidents /illness to staff within the school and to liaise with external agencies where appropriate, maintaining accurate risk assessments and records. Working alongside the School nurse to provide an enthusiastic and motivated approach to keeping a healthy workforce and school community, ensuring the health and wellbeing of the whole school staff. You will be able to expand skills and knowledge in this area of occupational health by understanding the impact health can have on work and work can have on someone’s health. You will work in a supportive partnership with the current School nurse playing a crucial role in providing a compassionate, professional service that is instrumental in the care of the whole school team.

• Demonstrate resilience, motivation and commitment

• Have excellent excellent organisational and communication skills, and a flexible approach.

• Be honest and act with integrity, be trustworthy and understand the need for confidentiality.
