Description | St Bede’s High School, Chisholm is seeking a temporary part-time Library Assistant to join the school community commencing in Term 2. This position will be contracted to work 18 hours per week. St Bede’s Catholic College, in the recently-established suburb of Chisholm, is a new co-educational Catholic secondary school that is part of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. The College opened in 2018 and will eventually cater for 1,100 students in Years 7 to 12. In 2022 the College has approximately 670 Year 7-11 students, with the first Year 12 cohort to graduate in 2023. The key components that drive the development of the school are Faith, Knowledge, Courage and Community. These components align to the four domains of our Strategic Plan – Catholic Formation and Mission, Learning, Leadership, Wellbeing and Partnerships. |

Position Requirements | Library Assistants in a Catholic school have a unique role to play and are assigned with the task of ensuring each child has the opportunity to grow both academically and spiritually and to live purposeful lives. The Library Assistant will promote the school as a place of learning and excellence in accordance with contemporary evidence-based learning and wellbeing principles (including digital learning) and will ensure the ongoing development and implementation of pedagogical practices that impact on student learning outcomes. |

Essential Criteria | • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school; • Excellent written communication skills and strong verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills; • Demonstrated experience using initiative and self-motivation in the workplace; • Demonstrated ability in accurately and proficiently performing a wide range of administration tasks; • Intermediate experience and ability to work with various databases, Microsoft office programs and excel; • Demonstrated capacity to organise, prioritise and multi task to meet various deadlines; • An understanding and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality; • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and be responsible and accountable for own work with the capacity and willingness to work in a team environment; The applicant must provide evidence of the following: • Current Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC)number. |

Desirable Criteria | • Experience in OLIVER Library Management System; • Experience in the stocktake and weeding of a virtual and physical collection; • Experience working in a school library environment. |
