We are seeking a School Officer to undertake a diverse range of tasks within our Prep classrooms. The Early Years section of our school caters for our youngest students in Prep and Year 1. Our dedicated team of teachers and School Officers work tirelessly to create a stimulating and vibrant atmosphere for learning. You will display proven communication and interpersonal skills, and an understanding of the development of young minds. Team work skills will also be vital as our Early Years Team work very closely together.


St Mary’s Primary School is situated in the historic Queensland provincial city of Ipswich, 35 km from Brisbane CBD. Our beautiful, historical architecture of sandstone buildings are a visual reminder that quality Catholic Education has been delivered on our site for over 150 years.  We are a co-educational school with a current enrolment of 575 students from Prep through to Year 6. The dedicated teaching and support staff endeavour to provide high quality, inclusive education by providing engaging learning activities that support not only students’ academic advancement but also their personal growth based upon a Catholic Christian tradition.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;
  • currently hold or be eligible to hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card; and
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.


Estimated Start Date:
  Commencing January 2020

Position Tenure:   Fixed Term

Weeks Worked:  School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)

Tenure Duration (If Fixed Term):   12 months

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required:   Mon-Fri 6 hrs/day (30 hrs/wk)

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate:   School Officer classification based on level of experience

Employment Conditions:   Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement 2015-2019


This position involves working with children.  The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
