Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an outstanding and enthusiastic School Secretary to join the dedicated and supportive administration team at Rowan Preparatory School. You will be responsible for the organisation and smooth running of the school office in our Preschool and Pre-Prep.

This is a varied and demanding role and, as the first point of contact for the school, it involves a great deal of communcation with pupils, parents, staff and visitors.  No two days are the same and priorities and needs change on a minute by minute basis, often interrupted to meet the needs of the girls, parents, staff and visitors, so a calm, patient, flexible attitude, diplomatic and warm manner, excellent organisational and interpersonal skills are required.  Experience in a similar role would be an advantage but not essential.

The role is full time term time (8.00am - 5.00pm) plus INSET days and another 6 days during the school holiday period.

Rowan Preparatory School is a dynamic, happy and nurturing independent girls' school which prepares girls (age 2 - 11) for the challenges they will face in life, helping them to develop compassion, respect and a lifelong love of learning.  We value all our girls as individuals and attach great importance to the quality of teaching and learning that is at the heart of our philosophy on education.

We encourage individuality in an environment which supports every girl and provides opportunities for children to thrive.   With small class sizes and a well-resourced school, you will be joining a supportive, forward-thinking team who are committed and passionate about girls’ education. There are excellent opportunities for professional development linked to your personal ambitions and moving the school forward.

The closing date for applications is Friday 29 June, 2018.

Rowan Preparatory School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure Barring Service.
