VCIS is seeking an exceptional and highly motivated teacher to lead our successful Science Department. 

The Science Department is focussed on ensuring lessons are active, challenging and relatable for students. We collaborate in planning and delivering lessons to a consistently high standard, and encourage staff to try new strategies to engage and develop learners. By the end of their Science education at VCIS, we strive to make students active thinkers with the ability to apply and analyse new information to solve real-world problems. 

Science is popular with our students and they achieve good examination results in both separate and combined sciences at GCSE. A high proportion continue to with AS/A2 level  and many students go on to read science subjects at university.

Varee Chiangmai International School is a fully accredited member of EDT (Education Development Trust) and delivers CIE (Cambridge Assessment International Education) following a British curriculum across the key stages in Science leading to IGCSE and A level. We take a holistic approach to a child’s education and development, with the arts, sports, creative clubs and the Duke of Edinburgh award programme all contributing to the extra-curricular activities. The secondary school is a growing community of approximately 150 students. 

The school is located close to the centre of Chiang Mai, the bustling capital of Thailand’s northern Lanna region. Chiang Mai has been rated among the top 10 most liveable cities in Asia. It has a laid-back atmosphere, enjoys a tropical climate and is affordable. The lifestyle achievable means that most of our teachers renew their initial contract.

The successful candidate should:

- Possess a degree/qualification in science or a related field, Physics would be considered an advantage.

- Have a PGCE or equivalent.

- Be able to teach across chemistry, physics and biology at KS4 and KS3.

- Be able to teach at least one subject at KS5 (Biology preferred)

- Have experience in leading a department, organising teaching teams or supporting colleagues.

- Be able to use technology to track student progress.

- Be a team player with strong interpersonal skills.

- Possess the ability to work with diverse groups of colleagues, students and parents, as well as different cultures. Experience working in a multi-cultural/international school setting considered a bonus.

- Have a flexible attitude as our school grows and develops.

- Be a positive and enthusiastic member of the staffroom.

- Be willing to be fully involved in the extra-curricular life of the school.

About:

Varee Chiangmai International School is located in Chiang Mai, conveniently close to the airport, central shopping malls, and train and bus stations. Chiang Mai has a population of around 1.5 million with over 200,000 people living inside the city center.

At VCIS we teach a UK curriculum, the school is fully accredited by the UK-based Education Development Trust and Cambridge International Examinations. The school teaches from early years, though to the conclusion of A Level. We encourage the development of critical and analytical thinking skills through a variety of inclusive teaching methodologies, such as; differentiated instruction, co-operative learning, technology, Inquiry learning and research skills.

The school teaches in the English language, but also maintains connections with the local Thai community.  Applicants applying for teaching positions must hold a teaching licence in their home country, have at least two years teaching experience and a familiarity with the English National Curriculum.
