Job overview

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Science Leader to our growing University Technical College (UTC). The role is part of the planned expansion of the teaching staff at the UTC as we grow from our current student number to capacity (600 students).

This role offers a unique opportunity to advance your career alongside the growth of the school.  The UTC will have a small Science Team in September 2018 but will grow in the next year or two allowing the Science Lead to also develop their career and join the extended leadership team in a wider role in the next two/three years.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate. The new purpose built Heathrow Aviation Engineering UTC opened in September 2014, we replicate a business environment with state-of–the-art facilities. This is not only a relatively new school but a new approach to educating 14-19 year olds; which is possibly the most exciting change in the education landscape in decades.

UTC Heathrow is a mixed University Technical College located in Northwood in the London Borough of Hillingdon. It offers its 14-19 year-old students a range of full-time technically oriented courses with an emphasis on aviation engineering, maths and science. It currently has just under 240 students enrolled but this is expected to expand to its maximum capacity of 400.

UTC Heathrow {originally known as Heathrow Aviation Engineering UTC} opened in 2014 - in response to growing demand for high-calibre professional engineers and technicians, aided by partnerships with Brunel University London, and major local employers British Airways plc and Heathrow Airport.

Students regularly get the chance to work on practical projects with these partners as part of their study, as well as more traditional classroom-based and workshop learning.
