Job overview

We are recruiting a fluent English speaking secondary level science teacher for September 2019. The position will be full time.

Class levels: Years 7 to 13.

The children are taught in two languages every day and this opportunity is for teachers to take responsibility for their learning of science in English and who could also teach up to International Baccalaureate level.

We are looking for teachers who think that teaching children is a serious business but also fun; teachers who can transmit their own energy and love of learning to a class of children from many different backgrounds, all aspiring to be bilingual.

Candidates must be fully qualified to teach and have valid working papers for France. Speaking French, although desirable, is not a criteria for the position as lessons will be facilitated in English. Contact person for this position: Mr.Burford (n.burford@ejm.net) tel + 33 3 20 65 90 50

About Ecole Jeannine Manuel - Lille

Jeannine Manuel founded the Ecole Active Bilingue in 1954 with the mission to develop international understanding through bilingual education starting in the nursery years. Her premise was that “learning a foreign language is, by itself, important; it is also a means to better understand others, to be able to think like them—it provides access to the world.”

An associated UNESCO school, EABJM is also contractually part of the French national education system. The high school prepares students for the French Baccalaureate, the French Baccalaureate with Option Internationale, or the International Baccalaureate. An official testing site for the SAT, EABJM is also accredited by the College Entrance Examination Board and the Cambridge University Local Examination Syndicate.

Since its founding, fifty years ago, EABJM has become the largest non-denominational independent school in France, with 2,900 students in Paris and Lille representing over sixty-five nationalities. The school’s academic excellence matches its diversity: EABJM is regularly ranked among the top five of all 121 Paris high schools (public and independent) for its overall academic performance. Today, all over the world, wherever they live, study or work, fifteen thousand alumni bear witness to the excellence of the education they received, as well as to a spirit of openness and flexibility forged at EABJM.
