Job overview

This is an excellent opportunity for Newly Qualified  (NQT) and Experienced Teachers alike since it will provide opportunities for those who wish to develop their skills, take the initiative in bringing new ideas and play a part in the development of a relatively new, small but  highly supportive school.

Required from AUGUST 2019, Panyathip International School - The British International School in Laos, is looking for an Science specialist for its Savannakhet Campus. This campus is just completing its fifth year having been started to support the development of Savannakhet, about an hour's flight from the capital Vientiane.

Our school has grown to around 160 pupils from Nursery to Year 10. In many ways the school is like a large family and because of its size all staff have to be comfortable supporting all age ranges at various times. Classes are small and the team has a strong collegial approach and relationships with the community are positive.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is comfortable in teaching students for whom English is an additional language. We are looking for someone who will bring ideas to make Science an exciting vibrant subject and who will think 'out of the box' for ways to develop the subject in the school. An understanding of differentiation and plenty of enthusiasm are highly desirable qualities for the successful candidate.  In addition a team player who is willing to assist wherever s/he is needed would be welcome for this small school.

Savannakhet is a large town separated from Thailand by the mighty Mekong river. The border with Thailand is literally 5 minutes from school and the town of Mukdahan possesses a range of amenities including big stores, an international hospital and more. For those with a sense of adventure Savannakhet is an ideal location to be.

For the successful candidate our package includes a tax-paid dollar salary (paid in dollars and kip - the local currency), travel allowance, daily lunch and other benefits. Specific details will be discussed with those who are short-listed.

You can find out more about the school on our website : www.pislao.com and on our Facebook page pissavannakhet .

Applications Please apply using the online form, providing the names and addresses of three referees and submitting your CV.

Police clearance and other formalities

Panyathip International Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment. Panyathip International School - The British International School in Laos, is a well-established International School having been founded in the Academic Year 2001-2002. From one Campus with a small number of students the school has grown to  5 Campuses in Laos.

The School was initially registered as a Private Education Institute by the Ministry of Education and Sports as a Bilingual School as it offered both an English as well as Lao programme, but has now gained the recognition as The British International School in Laos. Over the 17 years, we have grown from a small primary school with an enrolment of 60+ students to the current school enrolment of 1,000+ students, from the Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary, at the four campuses in Vientiane as well as one campus in Savannakhet.
