Job overview

We are looking for Science Teachers to join our outstanding multi-academy Trust, comprising four schools in West London – Twyford CE High School (Acton), William Perkin CE High School (Greenford), Ealing Fields High School (Ealing) and Ada Lovelace CE High School (Ealing) which is due to open in September 2018. The new post-holders will be joining us at a time of growth and the organisation therefore offers exciting development opportunities and good promotion prospects for motivated and energetic teachers who support the ethos of our schools. Applicants are invited to apply for a role with the Trust, or to specify a preference for a particular school.

Science at the Twyford Trust

The Trust employs a Head of Science Specialism to work across all schools and provide support to all Science teams, particularly in the areas of Teaching & Learning and Staff Development. All Trust schools use the same curriculum, which is three-tiered with differentiated outcomes for each level. The curriculum and assessment frameworks are stored on the VLE (‘Copia’) with resources shared across the Trust and readily accessible to students, staff and parents.

At Twyford school the Science Specialism operates a faculty structure with two principle departments - Core Science (KS3 & 4 Dual Science) and Advanced Science (KS3-5 Chemistry, Physics and Biology). Twyford’s science faculty is led by the Head of Science, and has a Deputy Head and separate Heads of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. There are nineteen science teachers and three technicians, and post-holders within the core department currently include KS3 and KS4 co-ordinators as well as development posts with responsibility for promotion of high standards of Teaching and Learning.

At William Perkin the team of 15 teaching staff and 2 technicians is led by the Head of Science and includes a Deputy Head and Subject Leaders for Physics and Chemistry. As the school reaches full capacity it is likely that the school’s science staffing model will emulate Twyford, with heads of the three specialisms.

William Perkin has an innovative curriculum model – core subjects including Science are taught in the morning in 50-minute periods, and science is studied every day by every student. These lessons cover the academic core, and the style of learning is formally focussed on the acquisition of core content and academic disciplines.

About Twyford Church of England Academies Trust (TCEAT)

The Twyford Church of England Academies Trust (TCEAT) is a compact Church of England multi-academy Trust which comprises four schools in the London Borough of Ealing. The Trust was established in October 2011 to enable an existing School, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community. Over a 10 year period it launched three new schools Ada Lovelace, Ealing Fields and William Perkin all of which have achieved progress outcomes ranking them in the top 5% of schools nationally, making TCEAT the highest attaining Trust in the UK for student progress by Year 11. TCEAT aims to deliver outstanding education in a comprehensive school setting and embraces the Twyford School motto ‘Life in all its fullness’, encouraging students to use their individual gifts wisely and well. Supported by the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), the TCEAT operates on collaborative principles with some central services to achieve consistency of provision. The Trust has a highly evolved common curriculum which has been devised by staff within the four schools. The Trust is also the hub of Teach West London and prides itself on high quality, peer-led CPD within a dynamic culture of self-improvement.

The admissions policy for each Trust school includes criterion for ‘Children of all staff’ places for Year 7 entry.
