Job overview

We want to appoint a Science Technician to join our outstanding School from September 2020. The ideal candidate will be able to provide comprehensive Science Technician support across the Science department to support high quality teaching and learning. We are looking for someone who is organised, flexible, reliable, reflective and a good team player. Previous school experience would be an advantage.


30 hours a week. (6 hours a day) but we could consider some flexibility for the right candidate – term time only.  

Salary: £16,612 - £17,557 per annum (actual)

The role

The Science Technician will support the practical and technical aspects of the curriculum by preparing, providing, maintaining, organising and managing the resources required for healthy, safe and secure, exciting practical activities to be carried out by staff and students. 

Our School

St Thomas More Catholic Comprehensive School was founded in 1964. It is a Catholic, mixed, 11-16 comprehensive school with a roll of just over 600 pupils. It is located in the south east of London in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, close to the border with Kent.

The school has always had an excellent reputation with the highest standards of pupils’ academic progress and excellent behaviour for learning. The Science department is amongst the top performing departments in the school. Pupils have real motivation to work hard and to succeed and premium is put on courtesy, smart appearance and good order. A phrase which is often used by visitors, supply teachers and even inspectors is “What a lovely school!”.  Our excellent record of academic success puts us consistently in the top 1% of schools nationally.
