Job overview

We encourage you to read our website very carefully and familiarise yourself with our 2014  Ofsted report, our prospectus, candidate information pack and application form for the post. What will be clear to you is that you are applying to an extremely successful school and one with a decidedly clear ethos of achievement. We moved, in November 2012, into a brand new £80 million school. The school became an Academy in September 2013 and was recognised by the Department for Education as a Teaching School in 2015. In 2017, the school’s results profile placed it in the top 3% of schools nationally for the sixth consecutive year. The school is committed to developing its teachers and to fostering the development of outstanding teaching. The school is a personalised community which is committed to creating careers for people. It is experienced in supporting NQTs and indeed enjoys this aspect of staff development but it has had equal success in fostering the careers of colleagues who join having taught in other schools or have had other careers.

Science is a key subject in the school’s profile. There are generous resources and accommodation in the new school is stunning. All teachers have their own large, airy and beautifully equipped laboratory which benefits from a range of interactive technology. Multiple preparation rooms provide technicians with plentiful space to prepare requisitions in support of lessons. Science colleagues benefit from the participation in the Prince’s Teaching Institute. According to ability students study triple or dual science and Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology is offered at AS and A2. Science is popular with students and all sciences thrive at AS and A2.

This post would be most suited to a candidate who is eager to support across science as a whole. Ideally, the candidate will have had experience working as a Science Technician in another context. The candidate should be skilled in the maintenance and upkeep of equipment and, as we have a thriving reptile club, should be comfortable caring for animals.

An application form that should be completed electronically is available from the school’s website: http://www.hollandparkschool.co.uk/vacancies/train-and-teach-with-us. Early application is encouraged as we will seek to interview and appoint on receipt. The closing date for applications is Monday 1st June by 09:00. As school is closed until then, please do not be concerned if you receive no response until this date.
