In September 2016 NIA opened as an all through 4-19 Free School and doubled its work force in 2017. We are now in position to do the same again to take in an oversubscribed new Year 7 and a new Reception cohort of pupils. By 2022 we will be a 2,220 pupil school.

We are looking to recruit outstanding staff to support the Teaching and Learning of our pupils by providing crucial roles throughout the school from 1st September 2018.

Science Technician

Term time only – 39 weeks per year. 37 hours per week

Scale points 16-18 (£13,739-£14,152 actual)

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our growing Science Team, as we move into our purpose built school in September. This is an excellent and unique opportunity for an experienced science technician to help create the science department’s resources, systems and its policies.

The role will be to lead the technician support for the staff and pupils within the Science department, including preparation and maintenance of resources and equipment under the instruction of the teaching staff.

The successful candidate would have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, and have the ability to prioritise busy workloads and work effectively under pressure.

What we are looking for in our successful Technician:

  • Science technician experience would be advantageous
  • An academic qualification, at least to A Level but preferably to Degree level, within the Science remit
  • If not an academic qualification, then experience working within a Science-related role would certainly be sufficient
  • Practical experience within a school environment would be advantageous
  • Good organisation and communication skills
  • The ability to work well as part of a team as well as independently
