Applications are invited for the post of Science Technician (Physics) at The Royal Masonic School for Girls. RMS is an independent, day and boarding school with a supportive and nurturing ethos. The Science Department consists of eleven teaching staff and three technicians, housed in 10 laboratories and four preparation rooms in a purpose built Science Block. The Physics Technician will be required to organise, direct and provide assistance in practical physics and to assist with chemistry and biology practical work at all key stages, if required.
Teamwork is an essential part of the role and while the successful candidate will be based in one department, it is expected that over time they will be able to assist in other science departments to gain further skills and help provide a flexible service.
Some experience of Physics, Biology or Chemistry laboratory techniques would be an advantage as would specific experience in Physics. Keeping the laboratories, prep room and storage areas clean, tidy and well organised is also a key element of the role. Full training will be provided.
This is a permanent role and is required for 32 hours per week, term time plus 2 weeks, Monday to Friday with timings negotiable. The post holders pay will be £15,793 per annum to £18,276 per annum depending on experience. The Royal Masonic School for Girls is an independent school located on a 316-acre site in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. Providing places to both boarding and day pupils, the school is an all-through institution educating pupils aged 2-18.
