Job overview
Science Tutor
£30 per hour (in line with The National Tutoring Programme)
Casual, as and when required
Required to start September/October 2022
We are looking to recruit a highly skilled and committed Science Tutor. The successful candidate will work closely with a range of students in Key Stages 3 & 4 (to GCSE level). The role will require working with students in small groups outside of their timetabled lessons as well as sometimes supporting students in class. Working closely with the Science Faculty Leadership Team, you will be required to identify students requiring further support and plan the tutoring session to closely align with the curriculum needs and expectations.
The post would suit candidates who are either successful and experienced teachers looking for a change in role, or those who currently work as successful tutors in a secondary school setting.
The Redhill Academy is part of The Redhill Academy Trust. The Academy is also a member of Redhill College of Leadership and Development and as such there are excellent CPD opportunities and a chance to work alongside colleagues from other high-performing schools in the region. The Trust also leads the regional Teaching School Hub, delivering local teacher training and the National Professional Qualifications for teachers.

About Redhill Academy
At The Redhill Academy we have four principles that guide everything we do:
◦ High expectations of all students
◦ Valuing and celebrating academic achievement
◦ Outstanding teaching for all students
◦ Widening students’ experiences through a range of extra-curricular activities including sports and the performing arts
Redhill was the first secondary school in Nottinghamshire to gain an “outstanding” Ofsted rating for the quality of teaching. This has now been achieved twice in succession. At our most recent inspection (2013), Ofsted judged that “teaching is outstanding” and that “during the inspection … the teaching observed was consistently effective in capturing students’ interest and engagement”. Our students were praised for behaving ”extremely well in lessons and around the academy site” and for being “calm, considerate and courteous at all times”. The inspectors also found that “students are proud of their academy”, which to me is probably the sentence in the report that says most about what we try and do here at Redhill.
