Nicholas Breakspear is a vibrant, nurturing and ambitious school. Situated on the outskirts of St Albans the school benefits from large spacious grounds and close links to London. This role provides an excellent opportunity to join a school which values inclusivity and kindness; allowing all children to flourish and grow in confidence. The 2019 GCSE results placed the school in the top 10% of schools nationally.

We are looking to appoint a Second in English who is an outstanding teacher, as well as being passionate and knowledgeable about their subject. They will have some experience of curriculum leadership, with a proven track record of positive student outcomes. The successful applicant will join a committed, collaborative and friendly team and work with the Head of English to maintain the highest standards of teaching, learning, and achievement for our students. The English department at Nicholas Breakspear consistently enables students to achieve impressive results and is one of the most popular subjects at A Level within the school. In 2019 29% of students achieved grades 7+ at GCSE English Literature; whilst the progress that all students made in the subject placed the department in the top 10% of schools nationally. 

Nicholas Breakspear is a member of the Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust. We work with the other schools within the trust to share best practice and promote the development of staff and students. DOWAT is recognised as one of the top 10 academy trusts in the country.

Nicholas Breaskpear is a Catholic school and we place great emphasis on the gospel values of Truth, Justice, Peace and Love. Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School is a mixed, comprehensive, Roman Catholic secondary school with sixth form situated in St Albans, Hertfordshire. It is also part of The Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust (DOWAT), which sponsors eleven faith schools in the Diocese of Westminster.
