We are proud to be one of few IB continuum schools in the UAE and uphold the IB philosophy in all that we do. The result is a community of students, parents and staff that are highly supportive of the aims of the school and work together to maximize opportunities for all. A strong focus on professional development and world-class facilities allow Uptown teachers to be imaginative and innovative when delivering the curriculum.

The Role

We are seeking an outstanding Head of Inclusion to join the Secondary School in August 2020. Candidates need to be enthusiastic about supporting students both within a mainstream classroom and in small group withdrawal sessions. Uptown is a genuinely inclusive school, which has been consistently rating as outstanding for its SEND provision. Expertise in dyslexia, autism or speech and language difficulties would be advantageous. Experience of teaching in an IB school is desirable but not essential. We are looking for someone who is passionate about international education, creative in their thinking and a student of learning. The successful candidate will also be adaptable, motivated by challenge and an excellent classroom practitioner. Please see the job description for further details.details.

Taaleem

We are part of the Taaleem group of schools. Taaleem is the second largest provider of education in the region and a group that has an absolute focus on education.  As a Taaleem teacher, you will join one of the largest, most respected education providers in the United Arab Emirates. Taaleem (which means ‘education’ in Arabic) was established in 2004 and now has over 9,000 students attending our ten international schools and pre-schools in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Taaleem is also one of the Middle East’s leading IB workshop providers for PYP, MYP, DP and CP. Taaleem is committed to inspiring students and helping them to identify and develop their passions and talents.

What do we look for?

All of our teachers must have either a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a PGCE or an equivalent qualification from around the world. Secondary school teachers and Primary specialists will also need a degree in the subject area that they wish to teach. Experience of teaching the IB programmes would be an advantage, as would experience of working in Dubai. However, a demonstrable alignment with the ethos of the IB and a genuine commitment to international-mindedness would compensate in many ways. Experience of using effective differentiation and assessment techniques are, however, essential.

What we offer

We are committed to developing our staff and run regular professional development workshops to ensure that our teachers are equipped to provide students with the best possible educational experience. Taaleem provides high-quality, purpose-built accommodation for teaching staff equipped with a gym, a pool and all amenities. We offer an attractive tax-free salary, medical insurance, free child places within selected schools and an annual flight allowance.

Application process

If you are interested in joining our team, please submit a letter of application and your CV, including two referees, to careers@taaleem.ae. Your letter should be addressed to the Principal, Mr Christopher Bromham.

Please note that an appointment may be made prior to this if an exceptional candidate is found.

Taaleem and Uptown School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Therefore, all appropriate checks will be made during the recruitment process.
