Job overview
The New School was formed in 2020 and our mission is to positively change the way we educate our children in the UK. We are a research-led school co-creating a new approach to education that puts children at the heart of the learning experience. We prioritise self-esteem, confidence, knowledge, and skills so they can develop their agency, and we use this knowledge to evolve the educational narrative in the UK. We were recently featured in the Byline Times in this article This One London School Offers a Beacon of Hope for Transforming Our Education System.
Come and join our supportive and innovative team to shape the future of education!
We are dedicated to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where every young person can thrive. We believe in embracing principles that prioritise the well-being and development of our students and staff and as an attachment and trauma-informed school, we are committed to social justice and fostering a safe space for growth.
Our school is at an exciting stage of development - after five years we are now in a period of substantial growth of our secondary department. From September 2025 we will be an all-through school from ages 4-16 and our Year 11s will be the first cohort of young people working on the completion of their qualifications. For this we are looking for skilled and passionate teachers to join our team, for people who believe that learning should be engaging, critically reflective, and culturally responsive. That learning should be connected to the real world, the lives and interests of young people.
Compensation for this position aligns with our pay-rates, complemented by an array of invaluable perks. These include our supportive team ethos, active participation in shaping organisational policies through our sociocratic framework, and the flexibility of enjoying five paid holidays during term time, along with two weeks off at each half-term break. Additional benefits are complimentary lunches and the opportunity to participate in our cycle-to-work scheme.
