About British Embassy School Ankara

The British Embassy School Ankara is a co-educational, not for profit, international school located in Ankara, capital of The Republic of Turkey. It is inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, most recently in April 2022 when the school achieved an 'Excellent' rating for pupil's academic achievement and personal development.

First established in 1959, the school occupies a site on the grounds of the British embassy and currently hosts around 200 pupils aged 3-14. From September 2024 the school will open its first Year 10 cohort.

The school was founded in order to provide an education to expatriate families living in Ankara, although it does accept students from the local population as well. Although a relatively small school, it is able to boast of a wide range of different teaching and recreational facilities, including an indoor sports arena and numerous modern classrooms.

The British Embassy School Ankara follows the English National Curriculum for English and Maths, as well as the International Primary and Middle curriculums. As a result, the school offers numerous high-quality core subjects as well as some wider options. From September 2024 this will also include iGCSE provision.

The school teaches in English, and provides proper support for students speaking English as a second or third language. There is also support provided for students with additional learning needs.

The British Embassy School is an active member of IAPs, COBIS and the Black Sea Schools Group.
