Almuñécar International School was set up in 1989 by a small group of highly motivated Spanish parents who wanted a distinct form of education for their children, and an alternative to the options available in the area. Since then the school has grown steadily and is authorised as a British School in Spain. We have students from the age of 3 up to 18. We use the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum for our youngest learners to explore and investigate, to be cared for in a supportive environment. In Primary and Lower Secondary , the Cambridge International Curriculum is our base for English, Maths and Science. We follow the English National Curriculum flexibly for all other subjects. In Years 10 and 11 students study for their GCSE´s and in Years 12 and 13 for their A Levels. The students also follow the compulsory elements of the Spanish Curriculum, Lengua and Cultura española / sociales. We also aim to prepare them for the future in knowledge, understanding, creative thinking and open mindedness so that they become not only caring but successful global citizens. We want them to ask questions, to think and unlock their full potential.

The school is situated in a residential area of the small town of Almuñécar. It is a beautiful location with the mountains and the sea. We are one hour away from the cultural cities of Malaga and Granada.
