Secondary Teacher of MFL (Spanish/French) - The Arbor School

The Arbor School seeks a special individual for an exciting opportunity that has arisen within our school. The successful candidate will play a key role in fulfilling the school’s ecological and sustainability vision, as well as challenging students to fulfil their potential within the academic disciplines. The Arbor School are seeking a highly motivated Teacher of MFL to join the growing MFL department in the newly opened Secondary School. The department currently consists of one MFL teacher and lead so this person would be a core member of the team.

We are looking for an experienced teacher with a passion for this languages, linguistics and world culture. The successful applicant will be able to teach students of all abilities as well as demonstrate a proven track record of securing outstanding student outcomes. Proficient and experienced in teaching Spanish and French, ideally with experience of teaching across GCSE/iGCSE and A Level or IB.

JOB SUMMARY

The role requires a passionate teacher of modern foreign languages to both fluent speakers and beginners. They will believe in showcasing the very best of cultural understanding and global awareness alongside having a strong pedagogical knowledge of learning languages The successful candidate will be proficient and experienced in teaching MFL ideally with experience of teaching across GCSE/iGCSE and A Level or IB. You will form an integral component of the MFL team, with responsibilities across KS3, KS4 and eventually KS5 as the secondary school grows into a full A-Level programme. The successful candidate should have experience of teaching French or Spanish primarily with German as a potential second language.

REQUIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE:

• Native-level English language skills
• Bachelor’s degree in or similar, with a PGCE in Education with QTS or equivalent
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching French/Spanish and/or German in the UK or a reputable British school overseas
• A track record of outstanding GSCE and/or A Level examination results
• A track record of outstanding teaching and learning and an ability to create a caring and nurturing classroom environment
