Description St Francis Xavier’s College is a Year 11-12 co-educational senior school located in Hamilton.

Duties include being part of the HSIE and Religion Faculties.

Teaching duties across both Year 11 and Year 12 including:


• Ancient History;


• Studies of Religion;


• Studies in Catholic Thought;


• Other HSIE courses.

As well as supporting the Wellbeing program within the College.

This position is a Maternity leave replacement with the possibility of continuing until end of term 3 2020.
Position Requirements • Qualified HSIE secondary teacher;


• Demonstrated experience and a proven track record in delivering stage 6 HSIE (Years 11 and 12) Ancient History, other HSIE courses, Studies of Religion and Studies in Catholic Thought;


• Proven capacity to improve student learning;


• High-quality and engaging classroom-teaching skills which will enable students with a diverse range of needs to achieve their full potential;


• Exemplary values and attitudes appropriate to professional practice for the intellectual, physical and social development needs of students;


• The ability to successfully implement and evaluate curriculum initiatives in accordance with curriculum and standards framework;


• Demonstrated capacity to reflect critically upon professional practice and a commitment to ongoing professional learning;


• Commitment and capacity to actively contribute to a broad range of school activities as a member of the school team;


• A high level of communication and interpersonal skills when relating to students, parents and other teachers.
Essential Criteria • Applicants will need to comply with the Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead - formerly the Faith Education Accreditation (FEA) Policy 2012 and will need to work towards Accreditation at Category D – Accreditation to Teach Religion;

• Current NESA and Working With Children number must be recorded on application;

• Be appropriately qualified as a four year trained secondary teacher;

• Evidence of completion of Anaphylaxis training certificate must be supplied.

Note: To start or return to working as a teacher in a NSW school, you must be accredited by NESA.
Desirable Criteria An ability to teach Religious Studies would be an advantage.
