Vision for Education, the supply arm of TES, are seeking to appoint a motivated Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Support Worker to join our successful supply teaching team and to work in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) schools and specialist provisions across Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. 

This is a part-time/ad hoc position, working exclusively with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and to start as soon as possible.  The successful SEMH Support Worker will be working on a supply basis, as and when schools require cover in their secondary department. You will need to have an understanding and experience of supporting children, young people and/or adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Learning Disabilities. 

The ideal SEMH Support Worker will be involved in providing individualised support to primary and secondary-aged children both inside and outside of the classroom, working on a 1:1 basis and within small groups, and accompanying pupils to relevant therapy sessions if required.  This is an exciting supply role for a SEMH Support Worker to work with dedicated and committed school teams. 

The successful candidate will need to have high aspirations for all students they are supporting in the classroom.  To be considered for the position as a SEMH Support Worker in SEN Schools, you must:   

Patience and understanding of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including; Profound and Multiple Disabilities (PMLD), Moderate Learning Disabilities (MLD), Autism (ASD/ASC) and Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD) 

Be supportive of the classroom teacher and deliver strong classroom management skills 

Be empathetic towards students with behavioural, social and emotional difficulties 

Be flexible with you teacher styles in order to adapt to each individual 

Be confident in working in small groups and on 1:1 basis 

Liaise effectively with parents and colleagues  

Ideally have an up to date Team Teach qualification, or be willing to complete the relevant training

We will also require you to hold a current DBS certificate (Child Workforce only) and it be registered on the Online Update Service.
