Access and Inclusion Service is looking for an experienced specialist in the area of ASD/Speech, Language and Communication to fulfil the role of SEN Co-ordinator for ASD and Speech, Language and Communication Difficulties within the Learner Support Service

Ideally candidates will have the knowledge and experience of using a range of specialist teaching methods and resources for pupils with the above difficulties across the curriculum, but with a particular focus upon social communication.

The Learner Support Service requires a creative and flexible co-ordinator in order to lead the ASD/Speech, Language and Communication Team in providing a quality service to schools within the Local Authority.

The successful candidate will be required to:

Play a key strategic role in developing policies and processes and best practice inclusive approaches for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech, Language and Communication Difficulties.

Provide line management for designated professionals who provide support for learners with ASD, speech, language and communication difficulties in educational settings across the LA.

Support the development and effective delivery of a continuum of provision for children and young people with ASD, speech, language and communication difficulties, including high quality specialist provisions attached to mainstream schools. To provide advice support and guidance to schools SEN complex issues relating to learners with ASD, speech, language and communication difficulties.

Contribute to the effectiveness of the Access and Inclusion Service and the Local Authority in implementing strategic plans and policies aimed at delivering effective outcomes for learners with ASD, speech, language and communication difficulties.

The ability to be a fluent Welsh speaker with the ability to produce written Welsh to a high standard would be desirable.
